A car that is sitting in the garage for a long…
What does a vehicle need to start its journey? Definitely, a battery that makes it possible for a vehicle to run and cross miles and miles within seconds. Electrical energy is stored in a battery that is necessary to move a vehicle. So, for keeping your car in movement and in working condition, maintain your car battery. The good and regular maintenance of a vehicle battery will keep it in working condition. A testing schedule with car mechanics will also make it possible for your vehicle to work properly. So, check your car battery on a regular basis and clean it for startup your car and continue running. Make sure to keep charging vehicle battery when necessary. A car battery will continue working well for 5 to 7 years and after that, it needs some necessary maintenance to keep it in good condition. Here are some steps to maintain a car battery to work well for several years.
Check the Battery’s Water Level
There are two types of a car battery, either it is a wet-cell battery or an Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) battery. If you have an AGM type then don’t try to open it by yourself but to have a battery expert to check water lever in the maintenance-free battery. Such types of batteries very rarely need water.
On the other hand, if you have a non-maintenance-free wet-cell battery then you can yourself check the water level. Wet-cell battery needs to maintain its water lever every 2 to 3 months. Make sure that water level touches the bottom of the battery’s refill hole.
For filling the battery, first, check the fill caps to check the level. After checking the water lever, fill the battery with distilled water. Make sure the battery is not overfilled.5
Uncover the Battery
Some batteries cover with heavy-duty plastic cases which have positive and negative terminals. These terminals are for connection wires that connect a battery to car. Take a picture before opening it so that you can fix it correctly after some maintenance.

Clean a Battery Every 6 to 8 Months
To clean the car battery, first, remove the terminal by moving them from side to side. Prepare a mixture of baking soda and distilled water. Put some mixture on the brush and gently scrub the terminal.
Coat the Battery with Grease Use for High Temperature
The grease that used for high temperatures will protect the battery. It will protect the battery from corrosion.
These tips will always benefit a car owner for a car to work properly. Always make sure that the cell voltage is inspected after changing oil or after car maintenance. You need to visit car mechanics for a reliable method of voltage testing. A battery that is fully charged will have a charge of 12.5 to 12.6 volts. A mechanic can check voltage for you. If you are using battery tester then you will get “Bad Battery” in case of uncharged battery. Take proper service for your car by visiting a car mechanic.
A car battery can also be stored in a very good way but using a battery is the best way to protect it. Disconnect a battery cable and then check it for damage. While storing a battery, make sure that there is no corrosion in the battery. Make sure the water level is ok but in case if there is need to fill the battery water level then fill it with distilled water. Be careful while filling water level that it should not be overfilled. Now remove the battery from the car and store it in a cold and dry place.
